Stop the RealtionshiT – Grow Your Relations

More than 50 % of the Western population as divorced or never married. The good old relationship which lasted “until death do us part” hardly exists any more in the Western world - and if a couple succeeds to live the whole life together than they have or done a lot of work to grow together or they leed a relationship which doesn’t really merit this name.   I believe that everyone who has reached a certain age, let’s say 40, has lived one or more periods of “relationshiT”, periods of anger, disappointment, insatisfaction or worse. Some people sort of accept that life is like this and go on as a victim with no hope for a better future by tolerating what is done to them - or what they themselves do to others. Some people chose to separate or divorce and to find a different mate with whom the same game most probably goes on again. [...]

Why the world doesn’t really change – until women step massively into leadership and why this is so difficult to happen.

It is not only because women want babies, grow them up and feel to have to take care of the household, the family relationships, the psychological well being of everyone concerned. There is more lying underneath which makes it really difficult for women to go out into the public and claim their place in important leadership settings. Yes, there is the male dominance. Men feel great when they graciously “allow” women to take over some role in their society - and they, the men, get all the benefit by women feeling recognized and inspired to do even more for their male fellows, beginning with cleaning up their mess and organizing celebrations, food, whatever. And they, the women,  make sure that the relationships go well, they are doing what they feel inspired to do: scoop everybody into a state of feeling good (the green mantra) - and more often than not they - the women - don’t realise [...]

Having Fun While Ageing – with Heidi Hornlein and Mark Davenport

I remember when I was 13 years old and my aunt was 40 - and I thought to myself: she is REALLY old. I will NEVER be as old as she is. And I remember well when I turned 40 and all the prejudices of our society kicked in about ageing and I had a time where I believed that I was old then and that my life was practically over. Now, more than 20 years later things have changed dramatically. I feel younger than ever, I am more active - maybe not physically, but all together - and I don't get stopped any more by what others or society as a whole think about me or what I am doing. Yes, many people I meet thin that I am a little crazy, I should play with grandchildren instead of studying computer programs, social media, marketing and other weird stuff which young people are supposed [...]

Peace through Communication

The Nobel Peace Prize 2015 was  awarded to the Tunisian National Dialogue Quartet for its decisive contribution to the building of a pluralistic democracy in Tunisia. A recognition of the power of COMMUNICATION. Countries can create inner peace through communication instead of political fights. WOW! I don't know how their communication techniques are. In this blogpost I want to introduce you to a very powerful way of communicating which has the potential to create deeper understanding and connection. I call it: Conjunctive Communication - a way to create understanding, connection, peace - beginning with our every day relationships. Our human relationships can grow and thrive when we find a way to be together in reciprocal respect and appreciation - AND when we are able to communicate with one another in ways which create communion instead of separation by feeling not understood. Most intimate relationships break up not because of missing love or attraction, but because of missing [...]

What does VEGETARIANISM have to do with the PRESERVATION of abundant LIFE on our planet? (by Heidi Hornlein)

Somehow this TED Talk featuring Allan Savory just now landed on my desktop. Though it was published two years ago, I have finally got to see and to love it: Watch it - and you will never think the same about Nature, Animals, Vegetarianism and how to create a “better world”. And this is what I (Heidi) think about the topic: Yes, vegetarianism has  a lot to do with the health of the planet - but not necessarily in the sense we are used to looking at it. It is a fashion today - at least in our Western countries, to become a vegetarian, maybe even a vegan. No animals should die for our nutrition, for our clothing and for all the other things for which animal products are still used. The individual reasons for not consuming animal products, especially as food, are sometimes well thought through and reasonable, sometimes a fantasy or a wishful belief [...]

Fun and Relaxation in August – Come and join us! (by Heidi Hornlein)

Wow! Already August - and still busy and stressed? Shouldn’t this be the month for holidays, for relaxation and finally for getting in some fun? Where are all the GOOD things we always have postponed until “later” - when we believe we finally will have some time to take care of ourselves and to enjoy life.   Well, the truth is, this LATER is NOW or NEVER!   Yes, I know that YOU know. Theoretically we know already all the things which would be good for us: movement, calmness, joy, relaxation, being focused when needed and totally immersed in LIFE all the time….   How is your reality? Mine certainly looks like constant waves, times in which I easily feel like “having it all” and other times when I am so involved in my projects that I hardly notice that the whole day has already gone, with neither having done any body movement nor having dedicated some [...]

What to do with INFIDELITY? -by Heidi Hornlein

Infidelity can break relationships - or help them to transform into a different level. It hurts, yes, and it seems much easier to go and forget about the relationship, try somebody new and follow your desires. Staying in a relationship when your partner has cheated you is shameful today, is seen as not taking care for yourself, as being a victim and weak. Well, if it wasn't so?  The following talk by Esther Perel will give you some new insides into this topic - as it did for us: When we cheat on our partner, it isn't always our partner that we are turning away from, but we are terning away from what we, ourselves, have become. It isn't so much that we are looking for another person, as much as we are looking for another SELF Most people who cheat are feeling ALIVE. Death and mortality often live in the shadow of an affair. So cheating [...]

Transform Your Relationships – with CONJUNCTIVE COMMUNICATION

Why would you you feel a need to transform your relationships? Our human relationships can grow and thrive when we find a way to be together with respect and appreciation - AND when we are able to communicate with each other in ways which create communion instead of separation by feeling not understood. Most intimate relationships and non break apart not because of missing love or attraction, but because of missing communication skills which make us end up in an eternal downward spiral of disappointment, anger, desperation - which finally destroys the very basis of the relationship.   Ask yourself the question: how did I resolve the latest conflict between myself and xyz? Was I able to resolve it? Or is it still latently present even though we are “going on well” together? What did you do in the face of the conflict? Did you run away? Or did you talk about it? And if so, how [...]

The Gift of Death – The Journey from Fear to Acceptance by Heidi Hornlein

I was guest in the first episode of a HOA Show addressing a topic which ranks very high on the TABU list: DEATH +Myste Lyn and +Patty Burgess Brecht are committed to bring death and dying out of the tabu zone and to enable us who - sooner or later - all come into contact with this experience in life to become calm and able to talk about it, as well as get familiar with what it really is - as opposed of assumptions created by fear and denial.  I was grateful for the opportunity to speak about the first part of my journey from Fear of Death to assisting my father who died of cancer and of establishing an unexpected and amazing relationship with him on his death bed. The importance of Alignment – Heidi Hornlein invited by Dr.Alan Chong

Dr.Alan Chong and his HOA show: Healthier, Happier YOU.  Heidi was invited to share her thoughts and insights about the importance of alignment. Physical alignment was first possible by the manipulation of a chiropractor which made it possible for her - the first time in her life - to stay really UPRIGHT.  Then she experienced that the body regulated itself to be upright in the moment of stepping into her full and authentic voice while singing, when the breathing and the emanation were aligned with the body and the intention to send out the musical message. Personal growth is also the result of the alignment with our highest visions of ourselves, what we want to become and what our soul's purpose is.
